Stay in Hobart

Tasmania's capital sits between a mountain and a river. The evening happens at Wrest Point, the tower on the Sandy Bay waterfront.

The city in short

Hobart is the capital of Tasmania and Australia's southernmost capital city. It sits between kunanyi / Mount Wellington and the River Derwent.

The evening precinct is Wrest Point in Sandy Bay, on the river 3 km from the city centre by the venue's own account. One hotel is inside the complex. The other stays are motels and apartments along Sandy Bay Road and in Battery Point, between 7 and 24 minutes away on foot.

Getting there

  • Hobart Airport is 18 km from the city. Hire cars, rideshare and taxis wait at the terminal.
  • The SkyBus shuttle to the city centre leaves every 30 minutes and makes six downtown stops.
  • Bringing a car? The Spirit of Tasmania ferry sails from Geelong to Devonport on the north-west coast.
  • Wrest Point says it can be reached by car, by ferry to its own pier or on foot. Sandy Bay Road is a main bus route with regular buses to the city.

Where to stay

Closest to the venue first. Walking times are measured routes, not the hotel's own claim.
